Those who want to stroll through the district can wander to the Luxembourg Garden. Following rue des Ecoles and passing in front of the Sorbonne, you’ll head up boulevard Saint Michel to Place Edmond Rostand. On nice days, don’t forget to stop by the ice cream seller at the garden entrance to sample his wide selection of flavours…

Next, head to the Jardin des Plantes, the national museum of natural history where you’ll find galleries dedicated to entomology, comparative anatomy and paleontology, mineralogy, zoology and the Grand Gallery of Evolution. Phew! Children love it – and so do their parents.

Finally, wander through the Place Maubert market (at the rue Monge – boulevard St-Germain intersection) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (flea markets are held on certain Sundays). Like all markets, this one has its share of typical Parisian colour and authenticity.
